Located just outside of Santiago, Chile, Valle Nevado boasts some of the largest skiable terrain in South America. Here, you'll ski on 2,000 acres of terrain (fifty percent is advanced or expert off-piste), ride the only high-speed quad chairlift in Chile, and have easy access to heli-skiing.

Valle Nevado is just over 35 miles from Santiago. The most convenient travel option for getting to and from Valle Nevado is to fly into Santiago and make use of the excellent shuttle services that run to the resort.

At a base elevation of 8,235 feet, a summit elevation of 10,899 feet, and a vertical drop of 2,664 feet, Valle Nevado is high enough in the Andes Mountains to ensure over 300 inches of annual snowfall.

The 34 groomed runs of Valle Nevado are distributed by level of difficulty, with 15% for beginners, 40 percent for intermediate skiers, and the rest for advanced enthusiasts. The infrastructure of Valle Nevado is serviced by 11 lifts, with cable ferries that interconnect the ski resorts. For snowboarding fanatics, Valle Nevado is concerned with staying on top of modern technology and maintains its Snow Park and Half Pipe in perfect condition. The Half Pipe provides an ultimate experience in the frequently-practiced Free Style method; and the Snow Park has a special area reserved for jumps, tricks and spins.

Valle Nevado's resort complex is comprised of three first-class hotels, outstanding for their excellent service. Along with world class accommodations, this destination resort has eight restaurants, bars, a pub, a heated pool, fitness center, gymnasium, child care center and a wide variety of stores. Since this is a popular destination for Americans, much of the staff speaks English.

The Hotel Valle Nevado, with 53 large rooms, is the most personalized. It also has the most exclusive restaurant in the resort, La Fourchette Restaurant, specialized in French Mediterranean cuisine. And a child care center where your children can play at entertaining activities planned for your ease of mind.

There is also a fully equipped Fitness Center that offers saunas, massages, body and facial treatments, relaxation techniques, dance, yoga and aerobics classes.

The Puerta del Sol, with 124 rooms, is a family-oriented hotel focused on convenience and comfort. You can choose from rooms with terraces overlooking the ski slopes or rooms with magnificent mountain views. It has also direct access to the heated pool, game room, cyber cafe and Puerta del Sol Bar.

The Tres Puntas is the most informal of the three hotels, is located just 60 meters from the runs, with 95 rooms ideal for families and groups of youths.

Together with Valle Nevado, La Parva and El Colorado make up what is known as the 'Three Valleys' ski region. Combined, they offer 11,210 acres of skiable terrain, 67 miles of slopes catering to every ability level, 43 lifts, and 4000 feet of vertical. It is the largest ski area in the Southern Hemisphere, with ski lifts connecting all of these resorts into one large ski circus. Add heli-skiing, and you can reach peaks over 14,000 feet and vertical between 5,000 to 8,000 feet.

Improvements for the 2010 ski season include two new lifts; A double chairlift in the Ballica sector and a T-bar to serve the top of the Val d'Inca slopes. Having a lift to this high point will also open up a new 'back bowl' area. Valle Nevado has completely renovated its lounges, guest rooms and restaurants, and The Valle de Condores II development will offer lots of new, smart apartments when complete.
